This week we made a daily appearance at the pool. Julia is CRAZY in the water!!!! She loves to put her face in! She has no fear! The boys have been into wearing their "safety" vests (aka life jackets) even though we haven't made it past the baby pool! I figure it is good preparation for our weekend at the Lake were "safety vests" are a requirement!
David has been busy at his new job....the director of disaster management for county "A". It has been a busy week for him with all the storms that have rolled through and getting acclimated with his new job. We were blessed with a place for him to stay while he has to be in county.
The kids and I have been holding down the home front...I thought I would prove that I could stay at home by myself and took on numerous new chores...which included mowing the lawn...but after I got a blister ran out of gas and was over heated, I decided the pool was a much better option....so the lawn only got half mowed.
This weekend we headed to my mom's house where the boys have been busy toting around her baby kitties...we only had 1 fatality of a kitten when Memphis decided it was a ball. So the wonderful mom that my mother is taught him to put the kitties in the wagon and give them a ride. With the fear of Memphis killing another kitten we were a little worried when we couldn't find one of the kittens....so after drilling Memphis about the kitty he proudly stated that he was giving his kitty a ride in his bike (the seat lifts up and the kittens were inside). The kittes loved the ride and were "safe". After the trauma the kittens suffered, my mom gave them to a little boy who was going to feed them with an eye dropper and fix their eyes. (The mommy cat abandoned them a few days ago)....pictures to come...
Julia has been busy playing with Grandma's cars and can now make a car sound....she also is saying "this", "Ga" for Gage, done, and down.
Now we are off to the Pow-Wow at the Casino.

Happy Birthday Julia
Today Julia turned 1 year old! I can't believe she was this....
5 lb 7 oz baby. She looked like a tiny little doll! When the nurses brought her to me they said "she may be small, but she is sure mighty!" to this day that holds true. She is a "women" who knows what she wants!!!! We celebrated her birthday today with some friends and of course Grandma and Grandpa.
She had some pre-birthday frosting licks while I decorated her cake.
Which I might add that the cakes turned out pretty good for an ameture!
We sang her happy birthday and she dug in.
She wasn't sure about everybody watching her eat so she was a little shy, but Gage and Memphis had no problem digging in. They enjoyed their cakes too. They had a hard time staying away from them all afternoon!
She opened her presents
and had fun playing with Jacob.
Happy Birthday precious little one! You are an amazing gift from God!!!

Updates
David's dad will be having bone marrow testing done on Tuesday. This is very painful for him. They also will be taking some of the bone. Please pray that he would be able to manage the pain and the results will come back positive.
Laura and baby are doing good. The baby was checked out by a cardiologist this morning and the baby's heart is very well developed. Praise the LORD! Keep her and the baby in your prayers that she will be able to carry her little girl full term.
As I logged into the blog tonight, I was noticed our picture from Christmas and how much the kids have changed in 6 months! WOW they sure grow fast!!!!!!!! Julia is turning 1 on Saturday, Gage turned 4 and Memphis is almost three! It is hard to believe that Memphis was Julia's age when we got him! How he has grown!
Tomorrow we are off to have Julia's ears checked. I am worried they are clogged again. She is EXTREMELY fussy and isn't sleeping. Praise God for mother's (mine was her and got up with her all last night!)
My Dad came home from the hospital today and is looking better. We are praying they have found the right balance of medication for him.
That is most of the updates from the Baker house!

Another Prayer Request
Update on David's Dad....they ran a bunch of test today and will find out more on Tuesday.
Please pray for my cousin Laura...she is 5 months pregnant and the baby heart rate is dropping. Her husband is gone(returning soon). Please pray that the baby's heart rate will stablize and she will be able to stay in her Mommy's womb for awhile. Please pray for a safe return for her husband.

Prayer Request
We just got a call from David's parents and his Dad has been diagonised with cancer. We are not sure all the details, but he was going to have knee surgery next week and the blood work came back fishy, so they ran more test and determined it was leukemia. A type that attacks his bones. He goes to a specialist tomorrow. David is quite shaken up.
Please pray for:
-healing for his Dad
-the doctors and nurses that will be working with him
-David
-and that I will know how to be a supportive wife

3 children plus 4 more equals 2 crazy parents
This weekend we decided to take on 4 more children (which makes 7 under 7) in foster care for the weekend. The 3 older kids know me from Sunday School and know me as "teacher", so when I pulled up in Big Blue(the Sunday School van, which we needed to borrow because we have 6 carseats) they were all rather excited that we were going to Sunday School, they were disappointed that we weren't going but settled to sing Sunday School songs the whole way home.
SO to handle all these small children, I thought I would put them all in life jackets and go to the city pool. This way they would all be clean, and worn out ready for bed. However, mother nature decided not to cooperate with me and sent rain the WHOLE weekend. So on Saturday we headed to the Summit center(swimming indoors) to burn off some energy. With only the minor incedent of Gage throwing a toy at a little girl and cutting her head, we made the trip event free.
Sunday we were cooped up again, but had the opportunity to head to church with a wonderful church nursery (bonus someone new to entertain them!) After church we did lunch and dispite the sprinkles we went to the park. Now 10:06, all is quiet in the house and the parent's are heading to bed! Julia hasn't been sleeping well because she is afraid she might miss some of the action. Saturday morning she woke up at 5:30, checked all the rooms to make sure they were all still sleeping and went back to bed! Oh my little Julia, who is 6 days away from being 1!
Good night and sleep tight!
